Description
Organic Hungarian Hot Wax pepper
The organic Hungarian Yellow Hot Wax pepper is a variety of Capsicum annuum originating from Hungary. The fruit has a classic elongated conical shape, which can be up to 15 cm long. This cultivar is characterised not only by its intense yellow colour, but also by the opaque, waxy appearance of its skin, from which it takes its name. With an average value of 10,000 SHU, it is comparable in spiciness to the better known Jalapen͂o.
How can I grow it?
The cultivation of the organic Hungarian Yellow Hot Wax pepper is quite simple, thanks to its plant adapting well to temperatures below those usually required by hot peppers. Start by germinating the seeds by placing them in a container over moistened paper towels. Once the shoots have sprouted, you can plant them in the soil and place the pot in sunlight, either indoors or outdoors. Water little and often so that the plant is never over-watered.
You will be able to pick the fruits when they are yellow and come off the branches easily. If you wait a few more days before harvesting, however, you will get even spicier chillies with a reddish hue.
How can I eat it?
The organic Hungarian Yellow Hot Wax pepper is characterised by its thick, crispy skin. Therefore, we recommend using it fresh to colour and flavour your cold dishes, or try it roasted on the grill.
We recommend wearing gloves when handling the chillies to avoid skin irritation.
Store the seeds in a cool, ventilated place with a temperature between 8° and 20° C, protected from weather, changes in humidity and sunlight.
