Jalapen͂o Pepper
Organic non GMO seeds for hot peppers
3,30 € – 11,00 €
Jalapen͂o is one of the most famous, popular and consumed chillies. Why? It is not very spicy, so it enriches the taste of dishes without covering up other flavours, and it has a firm, thin skin, which makes it easy to use in many different ways.
Description
Organic Jalapen͂o pepper
The organic hot pepper Jalapen͂o is a variety of Capsicum annuum and is originally from Mexico, but is now widely grown all over the world. Due to its moderate hotness, averaging around 10,000 SHU, this chilli is a pleasant option for even the most sensitive palates and very versatile in cooking. The fruits reach a size of 5-10 cm, have a smooth, even skin and are initially green in colour; when fully ripe, however, they tend to take on a bright red colour and the pungency also increases.
How can I grow it?
The first step, essential to encourage germination, is to soften the seeds by pre-soaking them in water for 12-24 hours. At this point, you can sow them in the soil or in a large pot about 1 cm deep. The first shoots may sprout even after a couple of weeks. Always ensure that the room temperature does not fall below 15°/20°, both during the day and at night, and provide the plant with plenty of sunlight and a moderate but constant amount of water.
Your organic Jalapen͂o chillies will be ready in about 80 to 90 days. Their advantage is that you can harvest them at a time of your choosing: when they are green, still unripe, they have a crispier texture, a firm flesh and a lower spiciness; as they turn red, however, they become softer, sweeter and spicier.
How can I eat it?
We recommend the organic Jalapen͂o chilli pepper if you want to give your dishes a spicy note without covering their flavour: meat, fish, vegetables and pulses. With its crispy texture and rather little flesh, it is also ideal for drying or eating stuffed.
We recommend wearing gloves when handling the chillies to avoid skin irritation.
Store the seeds in a cool, ventilated place with a temperature between 8° and 20° C, protected from weather, changes in humidity and sunlight.
