Organic Purslane
The microgreens of organic Purslane, botanical name Claytonia perfoliata, are characterised by small, bright green leaves and thin, pinkish stems. Growing its seeds is quick and easy, so even those without a green thumb will be able to grow its characteristic leaves, which are refined and delicate in appearance and taste.
How can I grow it?
Producing organic Purslane microgreens is quick and easy, even at home.
As it is a ‘rustic’ variety, able to grow even when the soil and temperature conditions are not optimal, you can cultivate microgreens very easily: sprinkle the substrate of your choice with seeds and place the container in the dark, then spray with water at least a couple of times a day. Already after 3/4 days you will see the first sprouts appear; move them to the light and continue to let them grow for another week. After 8/10 days, your organic Purslane microgreens will be ready to be enjoyed.
How can I eat it?
Organic Purslane microgreens have a fresh and delicate flavour, with a pleasantly sour aftertaste. Colourful and tender in texture, they will be the perfect edible garnish for your recipes, including desserts, or the fresh and wholesome ingredient to add to salads, smoothies and sandwiches.
Organic Purslane seeds may contain traces of soya, mustard, wheat, gluten and grasses.
Store the seeds in a cool, ventilated place, at a temperature between 8° and 20° C, away from weather, changes in humidity and sunlight.
