Organic Jalapeno Pepper
The organic jalapeno chili pepper is a variety of Capsicum annuum native to Mexico, but is now widely distributed throughout the world. Thanks to its moderate heat, averaging around 10.000 SHU, this chili pepper is a pleasant choice for even the most sensitive palates and is highly versatile in the kitchen. The fruits grow to 5-10 cm in size, have a smooth, even skin, and are initially green; however, when fully ripe, they tend to take on a bright red color and their heat also increases.
How can I grow it?
The first step, essential for promoting germination, is to soften the seeds by pre-soaking them in water or chamomile compresses for 12-24 hours. Then, you can sow them in the ground or in a large pot, about 1 cm deep. The first shoots may appear after a couple of weeks. Always ensure that the ambient temperature does not drop below 15°-20°C (59°-68°F), both day and night, and provide the plant with prolonged sunlight and a moderate but constant amount of water.
Your organic jalapeno peppers will be ready in about 80/90 days. Their advantage is that you can harvest them whenever you like: when they're green and still unripe, they have a crispier texture, firmer flesh, and less spiciness; as they turn red, however, they become increasingly soft, sweet, and spicy.
How can I eat it?
We recommend organic jalapeno chili pepper if you want to add a spicy note to your dishes without overpowering their flavor: meat, fish, vegetables, and legumes. With its crunchy texture and relatively light pulp, it's also ideal for drying or stuffing.
It is recommended to wear gloves when handling chili peppers to avoid skin irritation.
Store the seeds in a cool, ventilated place, with a temperature between 8° and 20° C, protected from atmospheric agents, changes in humidity, and sunlight.
