Description
Organic Mungo Bean
Mungo bean, botanical name Vigna radiata, is an ancient bean of oriental origin, cultivated mostly in tropical areas of the planet, as it needs high humidity to grow properly. Due to the many beneficial properties of this variety, it is now one of the most widely used beans for non-GMO bean sprouting; a true flagship in the agricultural food sector of the Land of the Rising Sun, along with Soya and Adzuki.
How can I grow it?
Producing organic Mung bean sprouts is quick and easy, even at home.
We recommend soaking the seed for 7/8 hours: this step is essential to allow the seed to sprout as evenly as possible. Next, it is important to rinse and drain your organic Mung seeds 3/4 times a day, taking care that the water does not settle and stagnate. Continue until they are ready, on average after 4/5 days.
How can I eat it?
Mungo’s organic sprouts are ideal to add to any Oriental-inspired recipe. Alternatively, you can use them to add crunch and nutrients to your more classic recipes – such as salads, omelettes and soups – or, thanks to their delicate flavour, you can stir-fry them for a quick and easy side dish.
Organic Mungo bean seeds may contain traces of soy, mustard, wheat, gluten and grasses.
Store the seeds in a cool and ventilated place, with temperature between 8° and 20° C, away from weather, humidity changes and direct sunlight.
